J.W. has been in foster care for 6 years. His mother is a single parent and is incarcerated. J.W. has three siblings, all younger; two sisters and a brother. Both boys are living is separate foster homes and the girls live together in another foster home. J.W. has progressed with his reading and math skills. He has done well since joining an afterschool study group. Currently J.W. is considering trying out for the school band and joining the music club as he has a passion for playing the trombone. However, this may not be possible due to the expense and transportation difficulties. J.W. also enjoys reading about jazz musicians and their careers. J.W. is an all around stellar student.
