The Lisa Project comes to Kern County
The Lisa Project is an interactive multi-media exhibit allowing visitors to experience the life of an abused or neglected child. The purpose of The Lisa Project is to bring awareness to the Kern County community with the hope to inspire and educate its citizens to report abuse to protect children and strengthen families.
The Lisa Project in Kern County is free and open to the public Thursday through Sunday for the month of February at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital at 3001 Sillect Avenue in Bakersfield, California. A 20-minute audio tour guides visitors through a room-by-room open house of scenarios depicting child abuse with narration from a child’s perspective.

The Lisa Project is sponsored by Aspiranet and collaborative partners in Kern County, including the Kern County Department of Human Services, Kern County Network for Children, First 5 of Kern, the Bakersfield Police Department and community partners. How can I experience The Lisa Project in Kern County? The Lisa Project in Kern County is free and open to the public Thursday through Sunday for the month of February. Opening Hours:
- Thursday and Friday: 5pm to 9pm
- Saturday: 9am to 5pm
- Sunday: 1pm to 5pm
The Lisa Project will be located at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital (link to map) at 3001 Sillect Avenue, Bakerfield CA 93308. Can I bring my children? Due to the graphic nature of the exhibit, The Lisa Project is recommended for children at least 13 years of age and older when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 13 years of age are welcome to view the exhibit but will not be provided with the audio tour. How can I help? The Lisa Project of Kern County hopes to inspire visitors to take action against abuse and neglect in the community. The project relies on financial sponsors and volunteers for its success.
