Family Focused Support Network

Aspiranet’s Family Focused Support Network (FFSN) is an in-home program designed to assist families with children who have developmental disabilities by using proven techniques revolving around developmental stages and parent training on neurological development.

Families are taught to recognize and develop their own strengths and abilities in accessing needed services available through other resources. Each program includes training, family meetings and home visits designed to improve parenting skills and enhance the quality of life for the child and all family members. Family Focused Support Network
Aspiranet’s Family Focused Support Network (FFSN) is an in-home behavioral support program that helps families with children that have developmental disabilities.  About 80% of our clients have autism.  Usually families are referred to our program because they feel they require some additional support to meet their child’s needs.

Families are taught to recognize and develop their own strengths and abilities in care for their child with a disability. We use a combination of interventions to address emotional/relational, neurological, social and moral areas of the child’s development.  Interventions revolve around building skills in the child to address core issues that may be causing the behaviors.  Examples of problem behaviors are:

• Tantrums
• Rigidity or lack of patience
• Disconnection
• Lack of awareness or running away
• Poor hygiene
• Poor family relations
• Communication issues
• Missing developmental milestones

The ultimate goal of the program is to keep families together, decrease family stress, teach new ways to parent, provide inclusion of the child in the community and improve the child’s skills and core issues. Usually children in our program have severe behavioral challenges that keep the child and family from enjoying regular activities and a pleasurable life routine.

Families are referred through the Regional Center.  Once a referral is made, Aspiranet contacts the family to conduct an assessment and evaluation. Upon approval by the Regional Center, the family and a three member Aspiranet team jointly develop a Family Service Plan. Each team member has their role in implementing and supervising the implementation of the Family Service Plan. Inclusion is a big part of the services provided helping improve the daily lives of each member of the family and the family as a whole.
