Encore AfterSchool

Encore AfterSchool connects experienced adults with part-time work in Bay Area afterschool programs. We are looking for talented adults with a variety of skills and experience who are interested in transitioning into working with youth after school.

Many afterschool programs find it challenging to establish long-term, stable staffing. Encore AfterSchool recruits experienced adults who are willing to commit to working for a minimum of one full school year.

About Encore AfterSchool

Encore AfterSchool (EAS) was created to help strengthen the afterschool workforce by connecting adults (Encore Associates) with 15 or more years of work experience with jobs as instructors in afterschool programs. While Encore Associates gain the skills necessary to transition into a career in education, afterschool programs benefit from having talented, experienced, and dependable staff members.

To help experienced adults transition into their Encore career, EAS has developed an “Encoreship” in which an experienced adult commits to working in an afterschool program for one full school year to develop skills working with youth. Each adult participating in an Encoreship will benefit from the following services provided by Encore AfterSchool:

  • Access to jobs
  • Resume building workshops
  • Tips for interviewing
  • Pre-service trainings
  • Continued professional development trainings during term of service
  • Networking opportunities with other Encore Associates
